💡 Lecture 

🔹 It's called ~ because ... 
~라고 합니다 ... 이기 때문입니다. 

It's called ~ because ...	~라고 합니다 ... 이기 때문입니다.
It's called G7 because it is the group of seven.	이는 G7이라고 합니다. 일곱개국의 모임이기 때문이죠.

🌐 용어의 유래를 설명할 때 
- It's called a parent company because it has controlling power over other companies as parents do over children.
그것을 모기업이라고 부릅니다. 왜냐하면 부모가 아이에게 그러하듯 다른 기업에 통제력을 갖고 있기 때문입니다. 

🌐 용어의 의미를 설명할 때
- It's called overtime because you are working more than the number of hours specified in your contract. 
이를 초과근무라고 합니다. 계약서에 명시된 시간을 초과하여 근무하는 것 이기 때문이죠.

이전에는 ~로 알려져 있었고, 현재는 ... 인

Formerly known as G8, currently known as the G7.	이전에는 G8이었고, 현재는 G7이군요.

🌐 변경된 이름을 언급할 때(1)
- The social media company formerly known as Facebook, currently known as Meta, has discussed opening retail stores. 
이전에는 Facebook으로 알려져 있었던 소셜미디어 기업 Meta는 소매점 개업에 대해 논의해왔습니다. 

🌐 변경된 이름을 언급할 때(2)
- Our team, formerly known as Marketing, currently known as Branding Strategy, now has a new role. 
이전에 마케팅팀이었고, 현재는 브랜딩 전략팀인 저희팀에 이제 새로운 역할이 생겼습니다.

정상회담

summit	1. 산의 정상(꼭대기) 2. (비즈니스, 정치적인 상황에서)공식적인 회의, 정상회담
This G7 Summit is critical,	이번 G7 정상회담은 대단히 중요한데요,
World leaders will meet next week for their annual economic summit.	세계정상들이 다음주에 연례 경제 정상회담을 위해 만납니다.
The two presidents agreed to hold a summit next year.	양국의 대통령들이 내년에 정상회담을 열기로 합의했습니다.

 

🔹breakdown
실패, 결렬

breakdown	1. (차량이나 기계 따위) 고장  2. (어떠한 관계나 논의, 시스템 등)실패, 결렬  breakdown of, breakdown in 형태로 많이 쓰인다.
breakdown in communication	의사소통의 실패
breakdown of a marriage	파경
breakdown of negotiations	협상결렬
If you look at the G8 breakdown of what happened in 2014.	2014년에 발생한 사건때문에 G8이 결렬되었습니다.
There was a serious breakdown in communications between the two departments.	두 부서간 심각한 의사소통의 실패가 있었어요.
He moved back to his hometown after the breakdown of his marriage.	그는 결혼생활이 파경을 맞은 후 고향으로 돌아갔어요.

공통의 이해관계

shared interest	공통의 이해관계
Saying, "Look, if we all have a shared interest	이러는 거죠, "자, 우리가 공통의 이해관계를 가지고 있다면,
We have a shred interest in successful co-operation.	우리는 성공적인 협력에 대한 공통의 이해관계를 가지고 있어요.
It is in our shared interest to secure the best education for students.	학생들을 위한 최고의 교육을 확보하는 것이 우리의 공통된 관심사입니다.  - secure v. 얻다, 확보하다.

시간당으로 급여를 받기 때문에 시급이라고 해요.	It's called hourly wage because you are paid by the hour.
예전에 치과의사로 알려졌던 제 여동생은 현재 회계사로 일하고 있어요.	My sister, formerly known as a dentist, currently works as an accountant.
